Biography

Dr. Afra Atiq is an Emirati poet, scholar, and interdisciplinary artist whose work has helped shape the literary and cultural landscape of the UAE. She holds a PhD in Media and Creative Industries from UAE University, where her research focused on the literary ecosystem, and a Master’s degree in Diplomacy.

 

Her creative practice spans poetry, performance, and visual arts, often exploring heritage, identity, and legacy. She writes and works in Arabic, English, French, and Python. Her debut poetry collection
Of Palm Trees and Skies was published in 2024.

 

Dr. Afra has been featured on stages across the UAE and internationally, with appearances in Saudi Arabia, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, India, Germany, Indonesia, and Mexico. She is also an alumna of the Realiity Art Tech Collaborative Training Program.

 

Beyond the stage, she is committed to education and community engagement, mentoring students and writers, leading workshops, and contributing research which has been published in peer-reviewed journals.

 

As an interdisciplinary artist, Dr. Afra blends poetry, scholarship, and visual storytelling to engage audiences across varied mediums.
